Background of the Study
As the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Mohammed Musa Bello has been responsible for overseeing the development and management of Abuja’s infrastructure, including the transportation sector. The transportation system in the FCT plays a critical role in supporting the capital’s economic activities and the mobility of its growing population. However, rapid urbanization and population growth have led to significant challenges in traffic management, road infrastructure, and public transportation.

Lugbe, a major suburban area of Abuja, has experienced considerable growth, which has placed pressure on the transportation infrastructure. The development of efficient transport systems in this area is crucial for improving access to the city center, reducing traffic congestion, and fostering economic growth. This study examines the role of Mohammed Musa Bello in shaping the transportation policies and the development of infrastructure in Lugbe, focusing on the extent of his influence in addressing transportation issues.

Abuja’s rapid urbanization has led to an overburdened transportation system, with traffic congestion, limited public transportation options, and inadequate road infrastructure affecting daily commuting. While Mohammed Musa Bello has made strides in managing the city’s urban planning, there is a need to assess the specific impact of his policies on transportation in Lugbe, which continues to face severe transportation challenges. This study will explore how his interventions have influenced transportation infrastructure in this important suburban area.
